Electrical Equipment in Explosive Atmosphere

Electrical Equipment in Explosive Atmosphere

Introduction

The course is about electrical equipment’s in explosive atmosphere. The risk levels associated with electrical equipment in oil and gas industry are high. These warrants careful selection,Installation, inspection, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment’s by applying industry standards.
Hazards are a part of life in all operational activities risk depends upon the Zone classifications as hydrocarbon gas release.Industrial Best practices has taught mankind the need to assess hazards and take necessary precautions to overcome hazards it is recognized that absolute safety from all risks in unattainable but there should be mitigation plan.
In past history incidents started to occur the slowly and increased in number and magnitude and the disaster triggered.RCA (Root cause Analysis) team started investigation and to prepare mitigation plan to overcome with such type of fire incidents.
The important contribution was the development of the first intrinsic safety devices to limit spark energy. Under the right conditions many substances burnt but the hydrocarbon gases and the vapours from hydrocarbon liquids are far more easily ignitable if they are present a certain concentration it may ignite itself at certain temperature or can ignited by sparks. The ignition is spontaneous and releases tremendous internal energy causing explosions. Electrify is associate with heat and sparks which makes is evident to cause fire and explosion, if not controlled

Course Objectives

Course is Intendant for Construction, Commissioning & Maintenance Engineers of Electrical & Instrumentation disciplines, Candidate those who work for National & International Oil & Gas industries shall have knowledge of Hazardous area classification and Ingress protection system requirements, candidates shall have right knowledge of electrical Junction boxes selection criteria and safety protection system, junction box installation procedures in Hazardous areas as classified and electrical conduits terminations, wiring terminations and Earthing knowledge

Due to lack of technical knowledge during the construction and maintenance the risk factor will be very high and the consequences will have high impact in the Oil & Gas industries and to the employees and process plant startup and safeguarding system
